Dear Partner in Ministry,
Welcome to March 2002 . . . the 58th Birthday of the radio ministry you know as Compassion Radio. We praise God – and you – for making Compassion Radio the oldest national half hour family radio program in America!
For this ministry, which through its history has funded the establishment of 3 orphanages on 3 continents, the following words have significant meaning:
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them;
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Clearly, those words of Jesus
constitute a command to His followers. And, without doubt,
that command indicates that
the Lord places a high priority on being accessible to children,
and on having His followers help children to come to Him.
That’s why His statement is recorded in all three synoptic
Gospels (Matthew 19:14; Mark 10:14, and Luke 18:16).
In obedience to this command, we at Compassion Radio also place a high priority on ministering to needy children. In 2001, an exciting new opportunity to reach out to children opened up to us. It promised to be the most powerful opportunity we’d ever been given to reach children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And, the resulting project was so successful that we are seizing this opportunity again in 2002. Let me tell you about it.
In China, the world’s largest nation, the atheistic communist government has made every effort to guarantee that the children of China DO NOT HEAR about Jesus Christ, and the love that He has for them.
For example, In the schools of China, children are taught that . . .
1.
There is no God . .2.
Jesus is not divine, and was a teacher of foolish ideas . . .3.
The Bible is a book of superstition and untrue myths.
In
addition to this ‘official atheism’ in the public schools, the
Chinese govern-ment seeks to exclude children from receiving
religious training in any of its government-regulated churches.
The Chinese law says that NO PERSON UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE is permitted to attend a “Three Self Patriotic Movement Church”. Cher and I have been in these churches, and we can testify that there are no children or young people in them!
This exclusion of children from access to Christian training in the country’s official registered churches extends to limiting the availability of Bibles and religious literature as well. The communist government seeks to stifle the distribution of Bibles and Christian education literature to children. Clearly, the communists’ strategy is to have the Christian movement die out in China by denying Gospel access to its children and young people.
But, God has another plan
for the children of China!
Our friends at “Open Doors with Brother Andrew” have developed a Children’s Bible that is successfully ‘turning the tide’ of China’s atheistic propaganda of its nation’s children.

Compassion Radio had been looking in vain for years for a Children’s Bible like this. And last year we finally found it! Last year’s “Children’s Bibles for China” campaign delivered 10,000 of those Bibles in cooperation with Open Doors. This year our goal is to double that amount to 20,000!

In other words, Chinese Christian children are just like the Chinese Christian adults. They’re bold, courageous, and effective soul winners!
These
Children’s Bibles already have a proven track record. A house
church Sunday School teacher in Shandong states: “Last year we
received about 800 Children’s Bibles, and, since then, we have
more than 2,000 children attending our Sunday School Classes.
More and more children are interested in reading the Children’s
Bibles that you provided.”
Think of it: The Chinese communist atheistic propagandizing of children can be reversed by giving these children God’s Word in a Bible that they can read and understand!

25 Children’s Bibles for a $100.00 contribution
100 Children’s Bibles for a $400.00 contribution
And, through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor, a dollar-for-dollar matching grant will double the amount of your contribution!
This “2002 CHILDREN'S BIBLES FOR CHINA” campaign is at least as important as any Bibles for China campaign Compassion Radio has ever taken on before. If China’s children can be reached with the truth of Jesus, China can be changed for Christ.
