UPDATE
ON THE DOOR OF HOPE, JOHANNESBURG, S.A.:
From
Norm and Cher Nelson of Compassion Radio/COMPASSION RADIO
Those of
you who have contributed to help make the Door of Hope Baby Rescue
project a reality, will be blessed to learn what has happened
there.
In
the last 2 years, 92 babies have been rescued!! 42 of those
have been in the last 12 months.
In
2001 there were 18 adoptions, 10 International and 8 local. 7
babies have been reunited with some part of their biological
families.
Door
of Hope has been approved to have 39 children under their care,
with 16 maximum at the house, which may soon be raised to 18.
Several Christian families have stepped forward to provide Care
Homes. Many more are needed. Please pray for more open
homes and hearts.
Currently
at the home, there are 16 babies, 12 boys and 4 girls, 13 under
the age of 5 months. The constant need is always for more staff,
and more finances to be able to pay for good quality staff.
One
of the most exciting things this year was the adoption of little
Georgina, the very first baby who was left in the bin, whom many
of you will remember and have prayed for. A Southern Baptist
missionary family has brought her back to the states. We are so
thrilled for all three of them.
The
most recent additions to the home are twin boys (Joseph and
Joshua) who arrived in the bin two weeks ago, at about a day old;
and Jethro, 4-5 days old, found
abandoned naked in the street on the 14th.
One
of our Compassion Radio partners just returned from volunteering
at Door of Hope. Be listening for her incredible first-hand report
sometime during January.
Thank
you again, for all the little lives you have saved. God bless you.
Norm
and Cher Nelson
P.S. As our gift to you this
Christmas season, we
would like to send to all of you who contribute to the ministry of
Compassion Radio, a beautiful wooden
cross, lovingly handmade especially for us by underground
Christians in Mainland China.
You may choose to keep this for yourself as a prayer reminder –
or perhaps you would choose to dedicate your gift to someone for Christmas, in which case you
could use the cross as a token gift to let them know you have given in their name.
For an additional gift of $5
to cover cost, shipping and handling, we would like to send you
our 2002 Compassion Radio Ministry wall/appointment Calendar. It includes ample space for recording daily
appointments, a monthly prayer focus, thought-provoking quotation,
scripture -- plus, on the back page -- room to record your prayer
requests and answer; your dates to remember; and, a list of
holidays, and designated days to fly your flag.
