From time to time, I would like to remind all of us
to continue praying about HIV/AIDS, the pandemic that has been called a “war
against humanity”. My friend, Brian Considine, who leads the Global AIDS
Prayer Partnership, has put together the following prayer concerns for us to
focus on:
“Twenty-five years ago in June 1981, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention issued the first warning about a disease that would become
known as AIDS. Since that time AIDS has affected more than 100 million
lives, either through death, positive HIV status, being orphaned or widowed.
While many Christians are today on the frontlines of the battle against
AIDS, much more is still needed.
-
Pray for a greater level of awareness and action on
the part of the Church globally.
-
Pray that local churches will take action in their
own communities, and strategically where God leads them.
-
Pray that local churches able to help those in need
will do so with the love and compassion of Christ.
-
Pray for a breakthrough, medically, socially, and
spiritually, to bring about the end of AIDS in our lifetime.
-
Pray for the transformational power of Jesus Christ
to be made manifest in those communities most impacted by AIDS.”
I am writing from the gorgeous South Pacific
islands of Fiji, a real hardship location! Here about 120 from 40 nations
are gathering for the International Fellowship of Transformation Partners.
We are here to share what the Lord is doing to bring revival to the Church
and social transformation to communities and nations and hopefully to better
understand the principles by which He does this through the prayers and
actions of His people. Would you please pray for His anointing and guidance
on all who have gathered, all of us who speak, and all that will occur from
today through Sunday the 18th when the conference concludes? May it be a
rich and transformational time in the presence of God for all of us and
through us for the organizations and initiatives we serve around the world.
Blessings and greetings from Pacific Harbor, Fiji,
John Robb
