John Robb Report:

The Changing Face of Asia and Beyond

The Lord has really done “far more abundantly” for the nation of Nepal as believers there and around the world have prayed. In an historic move, the national parliament has declared the country as a secular state. It is no longer a Hindu kingdom, opening the way for true religious freedom to come.  A colleague from Nepal has asked continued prayer in this time of transition: “Peace talks between the Maoists and the seven party alliance are to begin shortly. Many feel that the SPA will splinter causing instability and uncertainty - leaving a vacuum that the Maoists will seek to fill. All who continue to be concerned for Nepal are encouraged to pray for peace and stability.”

Let’s also continue to pray for other countries where repression continues.  We need God’s breakthrough in these places too:

Just next door to Nepal in Bhutan, two Christian workers continue to languish in prison. In a worse situation, more than 1700 believers remain imprisoned in Eritrea, several suffering severe abuse as the authorities try to make them renounce their evangelical manner of worship. Pray for His comfort and strength; for their deliverance from torture and imprisonment; as well as for the removal of oppressive officials or their change of heart so Christian believers will have the freedom to worship God according to their convictions.

The crisis in Karen State in Myanmar (Burma) continues to escalate with many thousands of people displaced by the fighting between the government forces and the Karen people. Serious atrocities have been committed by the government soldiers, including many civilians shot at close range or mutilated. Pray for the overthrow of the violence and killing and an end to the conflict between the government and ethnic minorities such as the Karen.

Pray for several key brothers and sisters that are seeking to mobilize their nations in united prayer for Christ’s transformation: for Mikhail, Ioan, Katya and her sister colleagues trying to bring together God’s people across the vastness of Russia in various prayer events so this nation can be healed and changed; for David who is attempting to create a strong united prayer movement in Angola, a nation wanting to recover from many years of awful civil war; for Dimitra and the “Vision for Greece” prayer network as they seek to counteract the reinstitution of worship to the ancient Greek gods and goddesses and see revival come to this needy nation.

Finally, I received the encouraging word today that 186 nations are now signed up to participate for the Global Day of Prayer, on Pentecost Sunday, June 4. If you and your church, organization or city want to participate, you can get all the materials you need from the website:  www.globaldayofprayer.com. An excellent 10 day prayer guide can be downloaded as well which you can copy without charge and distribute freely.

Blessings, greetings and thanks,
